Eclips' Early Years Outreach

Meadowbank Outreach

Meadowbank School is a centre of expertise in speech and language education and our Early Years Outreach Team aims to share this expertise, working in 'partnership' with Early Years and Inclusion Service, Early Years Forum, Community Speech and Language Therapy Department and mainstream schools throughout Cardiff.  The Meadowbank School Early Years Outreach Team are known as Eclips' (this stands for Early Communication & Language Intervention Programmes).

Eclips' EARLY YEARS OUTREACH: This provision offers support to a child, in an early years setting who is experiencing difficulties with their speech, language and communication. The children are referred to Eclips' through the Early Years Forum or PARMS, the Local Authority's Central Speech and Language Team or the Meadowbank School Admission Panel. The team liaise with the children's  community speech and language therapist (if the child has a community speech and ), who set Targets that Eclips' will work on.  If no speech and language therapist is involved at point of referral Eclips' will set relevent targets.  The role of the Eclips' Early Years Outreach Team involves working with  identified children on these Targets, giving advice and support and demonstrating/recommending appropriate resources. The Eclips' team are all staff based at Meadowbank School, using the very well thought out Meadowbank resource bank, liaising with colleagues at Meadowbank School and attending all Meadowbank School INSET training and meetings.

Meadowbank Outreach Provision  also offers two group training Programmes, on behalf of LA Early Years Inclusion Team.  These are available to schools via CPD on line: SPIRALS Group Programme and Attention, Listening and Early Vocabulary Group Programmes.

The Early Years Outreach provision is led by Jaci Elrayes, the Outreach Manager and the team includes two experienced Outreach Workers: Alison Powis and Angharad Farley.
